Approved 2026 Projects

Greenwaste Remediation Project - Clyde, NC

The NC Hurricane Helene Green Waste Project stems from a referral by our partner Greenrock Environmental, experts in waste management and beneficial reuse, to address post-storm debris in western North Carolina. Background: Hurricane Helene struck in late September 2024 as a Category 4 storm, causing catastrophic flooding, landslides, and tree damage across the Appalachian region, particularly in counties like Buncombe and Ashe. This generated unprecedented vegetative debris (trees, branches, and organic waste), exacerbating landfill pressures and environmental hazards like erosion and methane emissions.

State agencies, including the NC DEQ, approved over 177 temporary debris sites to manage the crisis. What we can and will be doing: BioLand will process green waste using BioRevive™ for accelerated bioremediation, converting debris into nutrient-rich soil amendments that enhance carbon sequestration, reduce fertilizer needs, and support reforestation or farming.

In collaboration with Greenrock, we'll handle on-site composting, logistics, and regulatory compliance to minimize landfill use and generate carbon credits. Scale: Enormous, with estimates of 5 million cubic yards in Buncombe County alone and over 14.5 million cubic yards removed regionally by late-2026—equivalent to filling thousands of football fields, making this a multi-phase, community-wide recovery effort aiding resilience in affected areas.

Toxic Fly Ash Project - Vernon, Texas

The Vernon Fly Ash Project, referred to BioLand by our strategic partners Triangle Digital and Weild Climate Markets, targets remediation of coal ash sites at the retired Oklaunion Power Station near Vernon, Texas. Background: Located in Wilbarger County, about 9 miles east of Vernon, the 650 MW coal-fired plant—owned by American Electric Power (AEP)—operated until its closure in 2020, leaving behind multiple ash ponds (including Ponds 6, 21, 22, 23, and a wastewater/sludge pond) under the EPA's Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) program.

These sites contain fly ash, bottom ash, and flue gas desulfurization waste laden with heavy metals like arsenic, lead, and mercury, posing risks of groundwater leaching and environmental contamination in the rural Texas-Oklahoma border region, as regulated by state and federal agencies. The area is now transitioning to the Oklaunion Industrial Park, with opportunities for redevelopment amid broader clean energy shifts.

What we can and will be doing: BioLand will apply BioRevive™ technology for in-situ and ex-situ microbial remediation, permanently degrading contaminants at the molecular level, restoring soil health, preventing pollution migration, and facilitating safe industrial or agricultural reuse. We'll incorporate real-time data tools for monitoring progress and expertise to monetize carbon sequestration through credits, ensuring regulatory compliance with TCEQ and EPA standards.

Scale: Substantial industrial scope, covering multiple ponds potentially spanning 100+ acres and involving millions of tons of ash material—similar to major utility site closures, offering significant cost savings and ecosystem protection in the North Texas plains.

Byproducts and business opportunities: Post-remediation, the treated fly ash becomes a valuable resource for beneficial reuse—such as partial cement replacement in concrete production (improving durability, workability, and sustainability while reducing costs), structural fill for roads and embankments, bricks, blocks, or geopolymer materials. This creates new revenue streams through sales of processed ash to construction firms, partnerships in ready-mix concrete manufacturing, or on-site value-added products, transforming environmental liabilities into profitable, circular-economy assets.
